We continue our commitment towards the Estonian forests and enlarge our business in the country with the latest acquisition of an 8,100 ha of land.
The newest surface of forestland is located in the southern region adjoining Latvia, with pine, spruce, and birch as main species. Our current portfolio in Estonia now sums around 21,500 ha. We are proud to manage and grow them responsibly in a developed market, with innovative forest management vision and tools and major wood processing facilities.
For us, forest conservation, protection of the environment and of the biodiversity is as important as fulfilling our business objectives. This is why the latest acquisition will soon start the process of the FSC certification – a validation of our responsible forest management vision, that implies respecting the rules of harvesting, regenerating the forest and protecting the species, in order to increase the quality of the forest over time.
The total Ingka Investments owned portfolio currently measures around 250.000 ha forestland portfolio in Europe (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania) and the USA. Our firm commitment is to be a responsible forest manager: to consider all the functions of a forest and to plan for dozens of years ahead.
